MEET THE BOARD

Steven Herzfeld - President
Steven was born and raised in Pinellas County, FL, and graduated from Seminole High School in 2006. At 17, he left Florida to attend the University of Colorado and stayed in Boulder, CO for 12 years and where he met his wife, Haley Kaiser. They, along with their adopted Wheaten Terriers, Daisy and Piper, moved to St. Petersburg in May 2017, and have been living at their house on the corner of 12th Ave N and 31st St N since September 2017.
Steven has served as President of the North Kenwood Neighborhood Association since 2019 after past President, Chris Ashley, did not seek re-election after serving as President for four years. Previously, he had served as Vice President in 2018, filling a vacant seat on the North Kenwood board of directors. His passion for civic involvement in the neighborhood was further cultivated when Steven participated in the 2018 Council of Neighborhood Associations Leadership Program, and had a chance to really learn about the behind-the-scenes working of city government and also meet many other neighborhood and community leaders.
Steven also serves on St. Petersburg’s Complete Streets Advisory Committee, which serves to improve our city by ensuring that all types of road users, including drivers, walkers, disabled persons, transit riders, and bicyclists, are considered when designing our streets, sidewalks, and trails. Previously, he owned two businesses, and most of his work history has been in the bicycle industry, which is a long-time passion of his.

Stephen Murray - Vice President
Stephen and his wife moved to North Kenwood in 2019 and have enjoyed getting to know their neighbors. They love the St. Pete food, craft beer and cocktail, and arts scenes, and of course, the amazing local beaches. You can find then most mornings and evenings walking our Shih Tzu, Obie, around the neighborhood or Booker Creek park.

James is a native of Sunnyside, NY and spent his first 35 years in an assortment of New York State localities. Their home here in North Kenwood is rounded off with their 'family' of all rescues. First is their senior Puggle, Bailey; next a Blue Healer, Hope (another senior); and lastly a Lab/Pit mix named Rocco. You may see them walking their 'family' individually around the neighborhood. They also assist a neighbor in walking his rescue, a Pit named Happy.
In addition to working in a finance department of a major .com retailer, James enjoys his hobby of genealogy and working around the house on a variety of projects. James and Eddie are just second owners of their home and much of the property is still original to 1951. Their furnishing include 'various' finds from over the years; and furniture from both of James' grandparents and a great grandmother.
Over the years James has been active with the Association in differing capacities from member to Vice President. James is excited the Association has grown with new individuals and their talents.
